Our Story

Introduction

Sky Tree Kids Early Learning Centre 'SkyTree' is a boutique childcare centre, located in a purpose-built state-of-the-art facility at 8 Mentone Avenue in the heart of Bundall on the Gold Coast. Our 56 place childcare centre opened in May 2018 and is dedicated to providing a high level of individualised care and education for families with children as young as 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

Before Sky Tree Kids…

From our earliest days, before development, we received confirmation from the local community that they believed in our vision. Local community members supported us with over 400 community members partitioning to Council in support of our vision and proposed development, further confirming the need for quality care and education in the area. We are honoured that our community believed in us and that we could deliver this through providing a mixture of modern finishings and natural environment settings.

Our Vision & Our Place

Our vision has always been to develop a place where children and their families have a strong sense of belonging.

Children at Sky Tree access natural outdoor environments in a modern ‘home like’ setting. There are strong influences drawing on environment and sustainability, without compromising on providing for open modern learning spaces.

Learning environments are set up to draw children’s focus to the activities and learning experiences at hand, rather than providing spaces with a ‘lot going on’ in the background. Resources and learning spaces morph over time to reflect children’s interests with resources changing and being brought in and out of learning environments to provide for new and exciting experiences for learning and development.

At SkyTree, there is a strong emphasis not only on providing a high level of quality care, but also on engaging children in more advanced creative, imaginative and literacy rich learning environments. Within our wonderful modern and natural learning spaces, we have invested in our programming on the foundation that every child has great potential, can become involved learners and deserves the best possible start.

We have designed learning programs which embrace the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards and our own Love of Learning & Reading Program. Our educators are passionate about pedagogical practices, drawing on philosophies such as Reggio Emilia's belief that the environment is a third teacher and the importance that Steiner places on self-help skills.

OUR LOVE OF READING PROGRAM

It is never too early for children to be exposed to books and all the magical and wonderful things that go with them and what children can get out of reading them.

We work in collaboration with parents to assist their child to develop a love for learning and reading.

Lynne, has three children and has seen the difference in how different educational settings can affect the foundations of early childhood development. She understands the pressures on working parents and the comfort that is needed in knowing that your child is receiving exceptional care and education.
